How 100Avatars Succeeded
100Avatars Round 1 gained popularity across various platforms, especially in VRChat, where their original world was visited more than 4 million times. The success of 100Avatars, with characters like Cool Banana, Butter, Mushy, BaconDude, Coffee, Toothpaste, Good Tomato, HotDog, Avocado, Chilli or Cool Choco, led to millions of views on YouTube, Twitch streams, and even appearances in a Netflix show. All thanks to their Open Source nature.
100Avatars Round 2 was born in 2020, and gained popularity across social media, especially on Twitter and TikTok. We showcased how we made them and asked our community to provide new avatar ideas. Some of the videos went viral, like this example on how we made Cool Pencil:

100Avatars Round 3 & Open Mint
The upcoming Round 3, set for release on January 9 2024 at 4 PM UTC, features collaboration from different artists at the VIPE studio, introducing diverse art styles. It will launch with a new minting tool, Open Mint (ERC-1155), on the Polygon network, at 10 MATIC each. Each avatar will be available to purchase during 24 hours, with no max supply limit.
The Open Mint tool will be released for use by anyone at a later date.
The avatars will maintain their open-source nature and will be playable in VRChat's 100Avatars Garden world (link). Each avatar will be available to use 2 days after the release on VIPE.
